DESTINATIONS

I’ve lived abroad for the past 7.5 years and have had the pleasure call many different places home like Poland, Korea, and Italy. Additionally, I have also had the pleasure and privilege of stepping foot in 40+ different countries. So, you could say I have traveled quite a bit.

Since 2017 I have traveled throughout Europe and Asia. Consequently, my experience is vast and I have the privilege of living abroad thanks to my partner’s job.

Pivotal Moments

The most pivotal moment of my time abroad was when the Army told my partner that he was headed off to Afghanistan and I would be left in Poland alone in 2019. I took advantage of this time and solo-traveled around Eastern, Central, and Northern Europe. This was a different kind of deployment as there wasn’t as much support in Poland at the time and I was seemingly on my own. We had a vibrant NATO community and I leaned on them so much.

I noticed something in me changed; Although I would travel by myself when living in the USA however, this was different.

Alone with my dogs in a foreign country, learning to lean on my neighbors in my small Polish town of Bydgoszcz, Poland. I learned the language and navigated complex issues all on my own.

My neighbors would invite me over to make comforting dishes and converse in Polish. The kindness and the happiness I felt in those moments, were priceless. This was connection and community, and there was nothing better. There was also something amazing about being in Poland exploring the beautiful towns around us and learning about the culture. It was an independence I had never felt before.

I think my biggest regret was that I didn’t document it all on a blog. So here I am. I hope from this one little blurb, that you’ll take the time to peruse my website and find content that resonates with you.
